Representatives of the groups Imbuaça from Sergipe, Companhia de Teatro Heliópolis from São Paulo, and Coletivo 302, from Cubatão report experiences and challenges in working outside the economically privileged axes of cultural production, whether in the Southeast region or on the outskirts of large urban centers. The decentralization of equipment and actions is urgent under conviction by the art, strength, and resilience in local action.
MANOEL CERQUEIRA, GRUPO IMBUAÇA (BRA)
graduated in history and post-graduated in education from the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS). Specialist in art education from the School of Communication and Arts at USP. In the Aracaju group, he acts, writes dramaturgy, composes the board of directors, and teaches a theatrical initiation workshop.
MIGUEL ROCHA, COMPANHIA DE TEATRO HELIÓPOLIS (BRA)
founding partner and director of the troupe from the south of São Paulo. Among the shows he signed, the highlights are “CÁRCERE ou Porque as Mulheres Viram Búfalos” (2022), nominated for the 2022 APCA Award; and “(IN)JUSTIÇA” (2019), nominated for the 2019 Shell Award and the 2019 Aplauso Brasil Award.
LIPARI, COLETIVO 302 (BRA)
performer, lighting designer, and art director, is studying architecture and urbanism at São Judas Tadeu University. He researches the potentialities of the relationship between specific spaces and performativity. Co-founder of Coletivo 302 and Galpão Cultural, also coordinates the LAB Livre Performance platform, always in Cubatão.
JÚNIOR BRASSALOTTI (BRA)
actor and cultural producer of O Coletivo de Teatro, co-manager of the cultural space Vila do Teatro, in the historic center of Santos. He presided over the city’s Culture Council between 2017 and 2022. He is the director and curator of the Curta Santos – Santos Film Festival. He produces the FESTA – Festival Santista de Teatro.
